mother love
skip through the sunshine field child
meander in innocent bliss
trailing fingers through the tall grass
taste a buttercup kiss
lie down in resplendent wild flowers
with a cornflower blanket sky
make a chain of daisies
as the fluffy clouds go by
feel warm gentle breezes
tousle lovely shining locks
hear song birds serenade you
as you pick up pretty rocks
you keep them in your pocket
with a feather that you found
memento's of a sunny day
when you felt God's love abound
hold the memory desperately
against your raging breast
when dark storm clouds gather
and your faith is sorely stressed
there won't be many days like this
I wish that it were other
but child I'll never lie to you
I'm not that kind of mother
meander in innocent bliss
trailing fingers through the tall grass
taste a buttercup kiss
lie down in resplendent wild flowers
with a cornflower blanket sky
make a chain of daisies
as the fluffy clouds go by
feel warm gentle breezes
tousle lovely shining locks
hear song birds serenade you
as you pick up pretty rocks
you keep them in your pocket
with a feather that you found
memento's of a sunny day
when you felt God's love abound
hold the memory desperately
against your raging breast
when dark storm clouds gather
and your faith is sorely stressed
there won't be many days like this
I wish that it were other
but child I'll never lie to you
I'm not that kind of mother
