eternal vows
for illumination branches strain
stretching out green boughs
reaching for suns hot caress
to fulfill eternal vows
heart wood cloaked in shadow
wrapped tight in thickened skin
shrouded in dark mystery
the sweetness flows within
enormous roots have furrowed down
to lie beneath what's seen
drinking in whatever rain
comes seeking to demean
at times the cold wind's screeching howl
whips limbs into a frenzy
stripping glorious raiment
down to muted majesty
the weight of winter's white embrace
encapsulated breaking
shattered pieces of the whole
diminished and forsaken
but spring will bring warm melting rain
and return of friendly flowers
growing from the lost remains
breaking winter's power
new buds will show and limbs will grow
replacing what was lost
new green leaves to cover up
cruel winter's brutal scars
so like this tree I'll wait for spring
and never shall I weep
come what evil weather will
stretching out green boughs
reaching for suns hot caress
to fulfill eternal vows
heart wood cloaked in shadow
wrapped tight in thickened skin
shrouded in dark mystery
the sweetness flows within
enormous roots have furrowed down
to lie beneath what's seen
drinking in whatever rain
comes seeking to demean
at times the cold wind's screeching howl
whips limbs into a frenzy
stripping glorious raiment
down to muted majesty
the weight of winter's white embrace
encapsulated breaking
shattered pieces of the whole
diminished and forsaken
but spring will bring warm melting rain
and return of friendly flowers
growing from the lost remains
breaking winter's power
new buds will show and limbs will grow
replacing what was lost
new green leaves to cover up
cruel winter's brutal scars
so like this tree I'll wait for spring
and never shall I weep
come what evil weather will
my roots are buried deep
