b*itch boots
she's a tough girl
with a chip on her shoulder
and anger in her eyes
those bitch boots scream a warning
she's got a lot of pain to hide
don't bother getting close
she'll stomp you if you try
and she'll smile, whistling dixie
as your good intentions die
she sticks her chin out
to absorb the blows of life
and keeps on going
trying to make it come out right
still has the bitch boots
but somehow now, they don't feel right
they give the lie
to the sea of tears she's cried
she fighting battles, with a wild berserker cry
but they are silently unwitnessed
by any friendly eye
she wants those bitch boots back
and attitude, to even up the score
but she can't win
and for the sake of peace
identity, crumbles and gives in
she's grown so strong now
with that heavy load of crap
but so encumbered
she can't find the right path back
she needs those bitch boots
and that fuck you attitude
to make it through this life
her reclamation, unfolding
privately inside
she's still a rebel
but she's finally found a cause
she knows she's worth it
and that her whole life's been on pause
she found those bitch boots
down in the garage
she left the baggage and shoulder breaking chips
but not the cause of all of them just yet
you see that girl there
she's drunk deep of despair
but fought her way free
and found her bitch boots waiting there
she's got some stomping
retribution yet to lay
and then she'll take the damned things off
and throw them both away
that girl's a woman
and she knows what she's about
she won't need bitch boots
once she's finally gotten out
the world's a tough place
of that there is no doubt
what she's survived was so much worse
it will never freak her out
she's still a tough girl
but her heart has been refined
she never gives up
so she's gonna be just fine
she knows that someday
someone's gonna treat her well
they'll see she's lived through
all of Dante's hell
and understand why
there's still fire in her eyes
she's a survivor
aching with desire
to simply be loved
solely for herself
and not those bitch boots
that served so long, so well
with a chip on her shoulder
and anger in her eyes
those bitch boots scream a warning
she's got a lot of pain to hide
don't bother getting close
she'll stomp you if you try
and she'll smile, whistling dixie
as your good intentions die
