my forefathers?
He was only sixteenbut he lied to go
and bravely serve his country
By seventeen a man
battle scarred & lean
driving a boat up the sand
deployed U.S. troops
armed with the truth
and seeking retribution
for the sneak attack
the injured and dead
the graveyard of a humbled fleet
the day the bombs fell
on tropical shores
another man resolute
stood watch near pier six
from the Taney
saw Arizona's demise
While back in the States
his lady did wait
enlisted, his lovely wife
a Kansas girl born
loved her country
and so became a Marine
I'm so proud today
from these I came
who fought for what they believed
I'm sick of the shame
in America today
'cause my Grandmother was a Marine!
