the fall of the inconsequential
objectivity demands that every man prove his worth
it is not to be assumed or assigned unfounded
the empty grasping hand will not charity release
or the complacent strive for awareness
fostering systemic dependence
in the name of equality
inequitable, evil empowerment
of those who've never cared
behind the scene the puppet master grins
in anticipatory glee
as wheels within wheels
spin out his wicked design
while the puppets dance
in the revolution of change
deluded by their finery and fiction
and the watch calls a false "all's well"
the pied piper leads an enchanted parade
but the children are all gone
and the bullfrog grows increasingly uncomfortable
as the flames leap ever higher
what is the cost of freedom?
forgotten antiquated notions of honor and idealism
drowned in the new morality of mediocrity
and the condemnation of excellence
all bow before the king of Saudi Arabia
while the piper leads the children
through the misty purple passes of Hindu Kush
to war without the will to win
for shame we deny culpability
eschewing responsibility for independent thought
savor the sugary pap so generously served up
by the new regime of nonsense
asking, "please sir, may I have some more"
though it nourishes nothing but destruction
our eyes delight in the fall of the Tiger
and our small souls feel bigger
to see the trivial...trivialized
pathetic sheep, following the village idiot
over every sharp edged cliff
trusting blindly that our own welfare
is safely berthed on Titanic and Lucitania
diversions of pandemic proportions
although the birds and pigs know better
and our veins scream for poison
as we push our children to the front of the line
denying the truth of history
fabricating a new world order
stripped of our finery now
the third world beckons us
"come join our diseased and starving ranks"
this, the result of compromise
this, the consequence of irresponsibility
this, the cost of the loss of objectivity
Woe America, for the legacy of blind stupidity
Woe to the generations yet to come
shame for the forgotten sacrifices
and the contempt for the principles of freedom
it is not to be assumed or assigned unfounded
the empty grasping hand will not charity release
or the complacent strive for awareness
fostering systemic dependence
in the name of equality
inequitable, evil empowerment
