directions to destiny
there's the path before me, and
here's the path behind,
the one that leads back
to the lost vista's of my
youth, easy to look back on
signs gone unseen, and
the cold, dark places
where pieces of my heart fell
along my long, lonesome road.
I would not travel
those perilous miles
again, for any amount.
this forward road beckons as
siren song to soul,
dangling the vision
of the hopes I've yet to hold
I paused here for a moment,
one deep breath to find,
my courage buried
under scars unhealed by time.
but I will up, and
step by step, go to
greet the brand new day,
don't believe in destiny
but new mercies every day.
were my shattered heart
to be whole again,
this time I'd choose to dance
this, the thought that pulls me on,
come whatever may.
this life I've lived, it's
consequence, choices I made
here's the path behind,
the one that leads back
to the lost vista's of my
youth, easy to look back on
signs gone unseen, and
the cold, dark places
where pieces of my heart fell
along my long, lonesome road.
I would not travel
those perilous miles
again, for any amount.
this forward road beckons as
siren song to soul,
dangling the vision
of the hopes I've yet to hold
I paused here for a moment,
one deep breath to find,
my courage buried
under scars unhealed by time.
but I will up, and
step by step, go to
greet the brand new day,
don't believe in destiny
but new mercies every day.
were my shattered heart
to be whole again,
this time I'd choose to dance
this, the thought that pulls me on,
come whatever may.
this life I've lived, it's
