The Golden King
There was once long ago
A majestic and kind king
The sort people loved so
Whose songs they'd sing
His rule was wise and just
Reliable and fair was he
He was worthy of the trust
That in the streets you'd see
With him bearing the crown
There was no crime or strife
And in every single town
His subjects had a good life
His actions brought joy
His people would rejoice
About the plans he'd employ
For each was a just choice
The kingdom was a land
Of peace, love, and prosperity
Far better than ever planned
As beautiful as could ever be
Though the people knew
That someday they'd sing
Funeral dirges tragic and true
Of their fallen golden king
