Petrified
Every step I take,Every move I make
I take a gamble,
Or hit a bramble.
I can do no choosing
When I risk losing
Anyone of value.
Anything I can do
Would step on toes
Or deliver hard blows
To the ones I love,
Who are so far above
All the petty things
Of which the world sings.
The dream I chase
Has turned it's face
Away from me.
What I want can't be.
I can't accept that.
But I see I'm a rat.
If I push too hard,
We all get scarred,
And if I try too much,
I'll have no crutch
To lean myself on,
'Cuz they'll be gone,
And I'll be all alone,
Terrified into stone.
