Darkened Earth
It's funny how sunny days
Could ever feel so dark
How even great happiness
Can lose its shining spark
Though when all is undone
And life is torn asunder
It makes perfect sense
That I can be dragged under
I look around and all I see
Is a world of evil things
Like once free birds
With their clipped wings
These men and their power
Corrupting all they touch
We gave them the gift
Of taking so very much
Earth and air, both so filthy
Even our water is unclean
Not even fire can cleanse
When all has lost it's sheen
Disease runs rampant
Both in body and in mind
But it is all so hidden
Even the afflicted are blind
The most generous people
Have hidden motivation
The greed for which they give
Is an awful complication
This world is no pretty place
And for its coming end, hark
For soon all will be covered
By the all-consuming dark
