A Shoe for a Shrew
"Come down for breakfast darling," she heard mommy calling.
She was still sitting on the floor of her bedroom
Wondering how to explain to her mommy
Why she had only one shoe
So she just gave up pondering
For nothing else would do but the truth
As she stood in the kitchen by her mommy
Mommy looked puzzled at her missing shoe
"Darling why are you wearing only one shoe," her mommy inquired.
"I wish I could say that I lost it, dear mommy."
And shrugged her shoulders and said
"But; mommy, I''ll just have to tell you the truth."
"When I went in the closet for my shoes?"
"I found something else was wearing one."
Now her mommy just looked really puzzled for sure
"Darling what could possible be in your closet, wearing only one of your shoes?"
"I know it sounds funny mommy."
"But I swear is is all the truth."
Mommy crossed her arms in disbelief
So I knew I had to tell her the rest and hope for the best
"You see mommy, when I went in the closet for my shoes."
"A home I did find in the other."
"But I could not just toss it out of that one shoe."
"Cause her babies did need their little home, dear mommy, like the one I have here with you."
"Mommy would you please just buy me another shoe?"
"For I gave up that one for a little Shrew."
