A Shoe for a Shrew(Revised Childrens Story)
A Shoe for a Shrew
"Come down for breakfast darling," the sweet little girl named Sally, heard her mommy calling.
Sitting on the floor of her bedroom, Sally had been quite pondering.
Just how to explain to her mommy, her conflict.
About having only one shoe to wear that day.
With a sigh on her little breath, Sally went downstairs to face what comes next.
Poor Sally just gave up trying to think of excuses, and,
Decided nothing else would do but the truth.
As she stood in the kitchen by her mommy, looking worried.
She saw the confusion building on her mother's face, from her lack of one shoe.
"Darling why are you wearing only one shoe."
"I wish I could say that I lost it, mommy, but to tell a lie is a sin."
Sally just shrugged her small shoulders and continued to say,
"So mommy, all I can do is to tell you the truth.
"When I went in the closet to fetch my shoes."
"I found that one of them was already in use."
Now Sally's mom was wise and heard many strange excuses, but this one really puzzled and confused her, so she had to ask.
"Darling what could possible be using one of your shoes?"
"I know it sounds silly mommy, but I swear, it is all the truth."
Sally's mom crossed her arms, staring at her little girl, beginning to disbelief, how this could be true.
Seeing the look on her mother's face, Sally knew she had to tell her the rest and hope for the best.
Sally knowing her mother had a kind spot in her heart, continued to say.
"You see mommy, when I went in the closet to fetch my shoes, a nest I found made in one."
"And I could not just toss it out of that one shoe, mommy, for I knew it would break my heart, and maybe your's too, mommy"
"For I found a little Shrew had made a nest in my shoe"
"And I knew her babies did need their little home, dear mommy, like the one I have here with you."
"Mommy could you please just buy me a new set of shoes?"
"Please mommy, can I just give up that one, for that little Shrew."
Sally's mom smiled so proud of her little girl, gave her a hug and kiss then said.
"Yes darling mommy will just get you another pair of shoes, for we can leave that one for the little mommy Shrew."
