Night Shadows Part 11; arms from the mist...
Night Shadows Part 11
arms from the mist...
Dusk has settled over the town and dark soon will arrive
Cozy little town shops begin to close for the night
A blur of white passes on the sidewalk
As the lights on the second floor above the shops light up
Just a quiet sound echoes off the concrete, their newness silencing her journey
Past all the familiar places she grew up with in her quiet little town
A right turn takes the blur of her new tennies down the park path
Many times before she has taken this route, never feeling unsafe
Just three more days and she will be gone from the quiet little town
Off to college to open her eyes to the rest of the world
A sudden breeze blows across her path rustling up dead leaves
Her jogging suit protecting against the chill air and the mist that begins to form
Streetlights already lit as she flies past the empty benches
She ponders all the adventures she will find away from home
But alas, he has chosen her, and her destiny has been etched in blood
Suddenly the fog moves in and the mist grows thicker
She stops, taking a sip from a park fountain, feeling a sense of eerie
Sarah, Sarah, a voices is heard from behind
She spins around to see who is calling her name
“Who's there”, she shouts, yet nothing but the rustling of unseen leaves beyond the mist
Startled, her pulse increasing with fright, she takes off
Three steps more, is all there would ever be for her on this path
Arms appear out of the mist, a face, then his body, draped in black
The mist carries her scream away as her body lifts, plucked from the path, then, no trace
He has claimed his chosen tonight
Once again no trace was ever found
Sarah awakes in a cold stony place, so dark
Her hands shackled to the stone wall
Morning breaks once again to the little town
A bright sun shines slightly warming the chill air
Many people are seen searching for any trace of Sarah
Towns people gather throughout the day in the park, mumbling of the mystery
A lone mansion sits at the edge of town
Ancient are the stones that have crumbled over time
An old family crest still visible hanging at the bottom of the steps
No one has been seen there in years, family past on, many years ago
Alone in this dark place, her screams will never be heard
Yet this prize seems different, she is still alive
Perhaps the little town will be safe for a time
A new queen he has secured for his pleasures
