Soul Food
I want bread
That tastes like heaven,
And sweet waters of love
To satisfy my thirst-
Quench this appetite with
Magnificient morsels of mercy,
Gratifying gummies of grace
Topped with pastries of peace-
Surrounding the sweet syrup of serenity
Served with the pleasures of patience,
Filling pheasants of faith
And the lengthy dish, Longsuffering
Of waiting so long for food-
I want food
That comes from heaven
Not just for today but
For tomorrow and the next day
And the day after that.
This is not just what I want,
But what I truly need-
I need food for my soul-
So feed me till I want no more...
Will I ever be satisfied?
The answer is No!
