Empathy
Don't tell me you understandWhat I am going thru when it's
Obvious by the way you talk and
Treat me that you don't because if
You did, you wouldn't have such
A hard time relating to how I feel-
You see what you want to see.
Looking at my situation thru
Those prejudiced, self-righteous eyes,
You say, I make you cry but no
It is you that always gives me cause
To shed tears even when you are not around.
How many nights did you have to
Wake up in someone else's dream
And did your heart break when you
Found yourself bathing in
The blood of your own child?
When did you lose everything you
Ever cared about just because Life
Wouldn't give you a break or let you
Cut ahead above everyone else?
Look around you-the economy isn't
Getting any better and neither am I!
You have no idea the Hell I had to go
Thru just to survive; It's a wonder that
I managed to keep some of my sanity!
So before you go spouting your philosophical
Garbage about "that's life and it's a cold cruel world"
Try shutting your mouth and looking at things
From my point of view, really everyone plays
Like they have so much sympathy but really
It looks like empathy disguised in pride!
Do you really think you are
Any better in dealing with this
Than I am? If so, I would love
To see you try and laugh when you cry!
