Letter of Understanding
Dear Parents,At what point in your busy schedule
Will you actually take the time to have a
Conversation with your son, daughter
Just about what Is going on in their life?
How many hours a day do you offer them
A kind word, a hug or kiss rather than fussing
At them for not cleaning their rooms or
Not getting their homework done, Of course, I know
That there is a time and place for everything-
But I wonder, How many of you are really there
To show your little woman or man that you truly
Care about the transitions they go thru as they
Reach the final stages of adulthood?
Is the art of listening, dead?
How long will you allow the I.POD,
I-Phone, TV, Internet, Friends, Significant Others
Babysit your teens until they are all grown?
(Technology can only offer so much)
And by that time, It will be too late for
You to get to know what kind of person
They really are...How many nights did they cry,
Commit internal suicide, experience rejection, hate,
Pressure and Spiritual abandonment all because you felt
What they had to say was worthless,
Refusing to lead a life by example? Instead,
You talk a good game, setting standards for your teens that
You yourself did not or are not able to follow-
Double standards lead to double lives....which they don't understand.
