Right Now
The only time we have is
The time we have right now!
You can go back to
The Slave shacks,
If you really want to…
But I don’t want to!
I like owning my
Houses and land,
When folks say, “No!”
I say, “Yes I can!”
God is lifting the heads
Of every black man,
Woman, child, our race-
But will we ever stop
Killing and fighting each other?
Will we ever come
Face to face with the past?
Will we build on our present?
The time is now…
They told us to ride
In the back-Because,
They were afraid of us
One day buying the bus…
From no rights and freedoms
To a black man representing us!
Look how far we’ve come!
It’s time to survive!
It’s time for us to realize
God didn’t bring us here
To victimize and terrorize.
Pick up the pace,
Don’t shame my race!
For our time is now…
This is my time,
This is my season-
I have a cause,
I have a reason
To demand respect
From all of my
Brotha’s and sistah’s
Workin two jobs
To keep the lights on!
To praise God from
Where he brought me from-
I’m gonna take my chance!
And our chance is now!
All we have is right now….
