Poem Commentary

2 Cor 7:14 “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land” Matt 22:1-3,11 “Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying: 2 "The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. 3 He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come. "But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. 12 `Friend,' he asked, `how did you get in here without wedding clothes?' The man was speechless.

I am First

Standing at the back of the line

Is fine by me because I need to

Learn some Patience. If I skip ahead,

What good will it do? I have read

That I must change my perspective

Before I can move up a row or two.

That’s what all children who grow up

Do when they become adults. I can’t attend

The Party dressed in these clothes-

Nor get the job I want without making

Some major changes to my casual wardrobe.

Everything I do revolves around Me changing

My point of view into one that lines up with

What You have to say. I may not understand

Every flaw in my character or control every

Emotion that tends to confuse the mess out

Of me- I don’t see my way ahead, nor do I

Have every little thing in my life mapped out.

All I know is that, I must be the first to take

The big dive before I expect You to do

Anything for me. So instead of watching the

Clock, I am working on self-improving me.

i love standing, thats improvement enough!

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
