Seven for Heaven: Human Haiku/Senryu, On Two Straight Guys Who Loved Each Other
I wake up, and reach
For Brian's hand; but he's gone.
Time has yet to teach.

TV on. I say:
"Brian, a good show is on."
Then choke: He is gone.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I nap: When I wake,
I feel he's here, a moment.
Next moment: Heart-break.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
In chair, couch, or bed,
I shrivel in my grieving.
How can he be dead?
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I go out to eat.
I sit next to emptiness.
"Where are you, Brian?"
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Back home to silence.
Brian cannot speak to me.
How can this be home?
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Two straight guys--brothers
Of the soul--loved intensely;
And loved immensely.
