Light Locomotive
Time is a twinkle,
Bright and brief.
Time is a giver--
And time is a thief.
Time is a fever,
Without relief.
Time is a deceiver.
Time brings belief.
Time is a sprinkle
Of sweet relief.
Time makes living livery,
Whose bones build a reef.
Time is a weaver,
Of death and life.
- - - - - - -
Time is a river;
Eternity is the sea.
Time carries you,
And time carries me.
Time covers lovers,
And all that will be.
Time buries you,
As time buries me.
- - - - - - -
Time is a twinkle,
Bright and brief.
Time is a giver--
And time is a thief.
Our own itineraries,
We lug as we live.
But still we live and move
To time's motif.
Time is a river,
And life is a leaf.
