Light for the Fight
I suffer physical declines from my cancer-treatment's scar-injection.
I suffer mental anguish from my patient counselor's ruthless rejection.
The stress she causes me may likely activate
My cancer, and then swiftly accelerate
The cancer's spread, by dread cortisol;
So that those killing cancer cells can carry the message of her hate,
To the far corners of my bones and my body; for me, then--that's all.
She is undermining and negating all my holistic hope.
She might as well have handed me a gun, poison, a razor, or a rope.
Still, in the depths of my depression, like dying in the deepest dark,
I find to please my mind the gift of the twinkle of a luminous spark:
Music and kind lyrics from sweet Luna--lady of love, lady of light--
To rally me, and help me stay another day in my hit life's final fight.
Thank you, Luna
