Five Human Haiku (Senryu): Faithful to the Perfect Form
Form is not petty.
For trifles make perfection:
And that's no trifle.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Form is not picky.
For small things make perfection:
That's not small at all.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Don't call it haiku
If your poem is not haiku.
Call it: A brief poem.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Haiku has strict form.
Restriction that frees the soul
To soar, to shape gems.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Shape them, to cherish.
Polish them to shine and speak.
Gems do not perish.
