All That I Have
For Luna Marie
I don't have the world to give. I don't have the world to take.
All I have to give is my heart, which is fragile and easy to break.
All I have is my love,
Which fell to my life from stardust above.
All I have to offer is my hand,
Which cannot hold the hour-glass's sand.
All I have is my life,
Briefly mine--soon to belong to cancer's killing knife.
All I have is my fleeting joy, and my transitory sorrow.
All I have is my brief today. I don't have a long tomorrow.
One more thing I have to say: A bright beam in my night
Illuminates my pained pathway, in life I briefly borrow.
I have music, and my best name: Mr. Poet; for I have Luna's light.
