Ebony Shine
Enjoy what you can,
While you can.
Endure what you must,
When you must.
Today shall go where yesterday went.
Some day or night,
This life of beauty and bright light,
Sweet with time and bitter with bane and blight,
Must die.
As the moments fly,
Live in the moment.

Wring every possible drop of happiness and joy
From your lifespan.
When you have to, feel your own sorrow.
Do not trust in tomorrow;
Take today.
For the world weaves a weird and weary way.
Everything is serious; but also, just a toy.
Hope and pray--while believing what you must--
That there will be more life, joyful life, beyond the dust.

All things have wings.
Surrounded by stars far away in dark space,
We have our times of splendor and suffering, of grief and grace.
We must choose either to help or to harm, every person we face.
Each one of us shines in ebony, a single special star.
Love yourself; and love others as yourself--for so they are.
Love turns they--and changes you and I--into we.
Then love gives good to others, and gains from what it brings.
Love feels joy, even in the deepest misery.
Love is above all things.
