Tranquilizing Thoughts
Sleep my love as you lie your head, upon my pillow fair,
dream my love as you see your youth, before a load of care;
Take a flight to fantasy, to worlds that should be known,
deep within a loving heart, a place you can call home.
Dream my love of fragrances, that aire in lingering,
Orange blossoms in the south, honeysuckle' s northern spring;
Gardenia' s in the summer, below the Mason Dixon line,
or the smell of French Vanilla, from a candles flame enshrined.
Dream too of mouth watering flavors, just ripened on the vine,
strawberries kissed by morning dew, watermelon's sweet design;
and what of chocolate's allure, are its praises under sung?
indeed it calms right to one's very core, as it melts upon the tongue.
Sleep on my love and do not wake, as your blankets warm transform,
leave the crispness of a winters day, through the sunshine's radiant warmth;
Hear the melodies sweet and cheerful, that the birds so early sing,
and Braham's Lullaby's that in evening, surely lull one back to sleep.
Dream on my love and listen, to the raindrops melody,
a serenade eclipsed only, by the fresh air's fragrancy;
So when you cannot fall to sleep, because life' s so burdensome,
just recall life's simple pleasure's, within the rhythms of this poem.
