The Gallery
Life is like a Landscape scene of panoramic breath
With forests, mountains, meadows within a sizable vignette
Bathed in rapid running rivers, and waterfalls that thrill our soul
And oceans, lakes, and ponds tranquil and so much in control.
Each masterpiece is colored by our triumphs and our tears
And all that life has dealt us on our journey thru the years
With lasting memories applied in oils, with a painters palette knife
Broad, thick, and topographic strokes of the layers of our life.
Other colors soft and muted in a watercolor wash
Or pastel colored pencils from a charcoal artists heart
Of a softer side of life from which contentment freely flows
Captured in a pasture where contented cattle low.
This landscapes filled with nature represented in still-life
Of gardens filled with flowers with names that life itself incite
“Babies Breath” for the newborns, “Innocence” for children sweet
“Kisses” for the lovers, “Monkshood” for the meek,
“Ladies Slippers” for the women, “Batchelor Buttons” for the men
“Smartweed” for the learned, “Inkberry” for the poets pen
“Boneset” for the M. D. Doctor, “Self Heal” for the Naturopath
“Quaker Ladies” for the righteous, “Rabbit Brushes” for a pet,
“Butter-and-eggs” for our diet, “Dutchmans-Breeches” for our dress
“Bed-Straws” for reclining, “St. Johnswort”, for the depressed
“Day Flowers” for the day time, “Nightshade” for the night
And the gentle “Weeping Willow” for those that reach the after-life.
Each painting holds such interest with it’s own peculiar scene
With beautiful bright colors mixed with shadows so chagrin
So take time now to contemplate, upon these works of art we meet
In this Gallery of Life, of fellow man that’s so replete.
