LASTING TREASURE

LASTING TREASURE

Which alter do we worship at, what idol do we serve,

what have we done in leisure that eternity preserves?

Where is our time invested and on what do we depend,

and do our daily actions yield eternal dividends?

It's said that where your heart is, that's where your treasure's found,

does moth or rust destroy it or is it heaven bound?

Is it temporal and silly or designed to please oneself,

or will it stand the test of time and yield immortal wealth?

Where does our loyalty reside, what debt do we now owe?

for Jesus gave His blameless life to wash us white as snow.

He left His Throne in Glory, the Creator of all there is,

to die for His created and to take on all our sin.

He then rose up from the grave, victorious over death,

so we can place our trust in Him to pay our judgment debt.

Now how do we respond to this great sacrifice supreme,

do we take it all for granted once are sins have been forgiven?

Can we not give back one hour a few times within each week,

to Glorify the Savior and His daily will to seek?

To pray and get to know Him through the Scriptures that He wrote,

or witness through the verses that we've memorized to quote?

Or would we rather spend the day off doing something else,

"it's too nice to go to church II so we go fishing by our self.

Or maybe to the link's to go golfing with old friend's,

or wash the car, mow the lawn, or other odds and ends.

Why don't we think ahead to when we'll stand before our God,

and if what we have done on earth will get a "Well Done" nod.

Or will we be ashamed at what we haven't done for Him,

because we've squandered our new life, just living out a whim.

There's nothing wrong with simple pleasures, unless God they now replace,

as in: neglect so great salvation then our life becomes a waste.

So our meaning's not in what we have or accumulate on earth,

but what we've done for Jesus after receiving our new birth.

So let's re-evaluate our lives, in view of evermore,

and determine to invest in things that "God" does underscore,

and send ahead Great Treasure, across the great divide,

that when tested in the fire, will be only purified.

Thank you T, it was heartfelt and the way I felt and still do if I was well. I still struggle but am not near known death anymore unless tomorrow is the day, ha ha. I miss church as all these years my natural physicians have informed me because of my crippled immune system not to be in close proximity to others who may be sick as my body still can't fight off much. So being surrounded by members in church is out of the question. Went from Chairman of Trustees and Building and finance committees, and Librarian that built up a 5000 book church library to being able to do nothing and having to stay away. Thats the hardest part. But it gives others the blessing of serving. But it's good being mobile but looking forward to feeling much better yet. Blessings friend, Whiskers. P.S. gonna check out your friend Meatloaf's poetry now.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.

Plato (BC 427-BC 347) Greek philosopher.
