    Poem Commentary

This simplistic poem was penned during another night (5th in a row) of no sleep due to pain I was suffering with at the time. Brain was dulled and shell shocked from lack of sleep and this was all I could come up with at the time. I'm sure I wasn't alone in slumberlessland but wrote to amuse myself as usual. Sleep tight my friends, Blessings.

    Insomniac’s Folly

Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock, tick tock…

All night long this rhythm haunts me,

    Tick tock, tick tock,

The clock beats in a minor key.

    Tick tock, tick tock…

I count as chimes ring-out twice each hour,

    Tick tock, tick tock,

As the night these hours slowly devour.

    Tick tock, tick tock,

    1:am I think I’m counting,

    Tick tock, tick tock,

The only hour that is confusing.

    Tick tock, tick tock,

It’s 2:am where does my mind go?

    Tick tock, tick tock,

I now glance out my bedroom window.

    Tick tock, tick tock,

The moon is full… of interest this night,

    Tick tock, tick tock,

I see faces in the trees in this light.

    Tick tock, tick tock,

    It’s 3:am I hear the clock strike,

    Tick tock, tick tock,

As the stars move in and out of my sight.

    Tick tock, tick tock,

It’s 4:am the street lamps in focus

    Tick tock, tick tock,

Then goes dark then returns I notice.

    Tick tock, tick tock,

    It’s 5:am a car passes by twice,

    Tick tock, tick tock,

    Delivering NEWS which is imprecise.

    Tick tock, tick tock,

It’s 6:am the nights nearly over,

    Tick tock, tick tock,

Why right now could I sleep in clover?

    Tick tock, tick tock… Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

This is great, Whiskers. I have had many a night like this!!

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
