NO NOBLER FAME
My Father, a brilliant man
more brilliant than I aspire,
My Father, a caring man
more caring than I desire;
My Father, a big man
more stature than I can meet,
My Father, a vital man
would walk miles oblivious to heat;
My Father, a friend to man
always eager to lend a hand,
My Father, an ocean man
who loved the surf and sand;
My Father, a happy man
his smile not the least of his charms;
My Father, a back-woodsman
schooled in forestry & reared on farms,
My Father, a Christian man
served his Lord in act and deed,
My Father, a well read man
would sit hours with book and read;
My Father, who I'd hug and kiss
whatever my age without shame,
"My Father"...who I miss so much;
could be given no nobler fame.
