Sounds of Silence
It was a sunny balmy day
with cloudless sky and breeze at bay,
birds were silently taking naps
dog’s not barking, asleep perhaps.
Squirrel’s stretched out upon a limb
soaking the sunshine’s warmth within,
lizards resting upon a rock
to lazy to attempt to change their frock.
No planes in skies high over head
no insect noises in flower bed’s,
neighbors mower’s in their garage
the sounds of silence in barrage
Bumble bee’s resting in their hive
no cars on streets now passing by,
just the coo of a lone dove
so soft and somber from above.
And the pilgrimage of flight
of a Monarch butterfly to delight,
no urgent need to do a thing
just take in silence as it sings.
Left alone now with my thoughts
to savor this stillness I had sought,
a gift too precious to dismiss…
This awe-inspiring day of Bliss.
