Poem Commentary

A poetic tribute to those we look up to as examples for us to follow. Praise the LORD for leaving us their life stories in His Word to emulate.

For the Love a God, man

Since time began, when God created man

Rebellion ruled, as men were cruel

And fought against the LORD

But for the love of God, some embraced God’s dialogue

To live for Him, in the interim

And stay true to the LORD

Though Adam sinned upon a whim

Their son Seth’s, true interest

Was following the LORD

Seth’s Godly line, Saint Luke testifies

In Chapter Four, ancestor’s bore

Direct lineage to our LORD

But other men, chose God and then

At God’s choice, through dreams or voice

Led lives for us to model

But at it’s base, is a life of Faith

To things not seen, when told to intervene

Do just as God’s commanded

There’s Noah who, bridged waters blue

Built the Ark, as post-floods Patriarch

To save man from destruction

And Abraham, traveled to a land

As yet unseen, but which God had deemed

For His chosen people’s homeland

Then Moses led, with unleavened bread

For fourty years, through deserts drear

To free His people from enslavement

Plus prophets who, battled taboo’s

And good kings, who tried to keep the Jews

Upon the straight and narrow

And Mary sweet, a virgin replete

Blessed as Gods choice, listened to His voice

And gave birth to Christ our Savior

Then Baptist John, who’s life wasn’t long

But prepared the way, for our Lord to pay

For our sin’s upon Mount Calvary

So a scarlet thread, of Righteous men have led

From Creation to the Present

For the Love of God, faithful men have trod

To lead men back to our Creator.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.
