    What Purpose

    Here we are years later

    Recalling bittersweet memories

    And bringing the other up to date

    On more recent histories

    Though it’s fun to reminisce

    It doesn’t change the fact

    We’ve gotten on with our lives

    What purpose is looking back

    We can never forget the past

    It’s ours only to embrace

    As vital part of who we are

    That's in its rightful place.

    Because I had an epiphany

    Is my only justification.

    Which in itself is an excuse

    To revive past relations

    You got on with your life

    I too have done the same

    What memories are so special

    That’s worth reliving again

    Getting in touch with you now

    A bad idea from the start

    But I was never one to resist

    The urge that was in my heart
