For My Black Children
A timely message to share with you
About both, winning and losing too
You may not the best, but do always try
By aligning your sights very high
Should by chance you miss you aim?
Still far ahead of others in the game
Black folk like to sit in scorner’s seat
Complain of being downed by a defeat
Should you find you’ve had a set back?
It’s not always because you’re Black
Get yourself up and take another aim
Or all you will ever do is sit and complain
No one cares how many times it’s been
Only about the number you get up again
It may not be easy but do always try
To be your best by aiming high.
