    Prevailing Emotions

    Since we are no longer lovers

    We must find a way to be friends

    In which there is a gratification

    Intense as falling in love again

    Friendship, love; each with a different name
    yet in my heart their meaning is the same.

    One lies beneath the prevailing emotion

    Each easy to give the other life again

    It only takes careful nurturing

    And time to grow once more

    Then the friendship will blossom

    Even lovelier than before
