Alvin Brown My Hero
If you didn’t think you’re my hero
I‘m deeply honored, to let you know
Since I grew up without a dad
You were the closest that I had.
You mentored me as we went along
Never once were you ever wrong.
If I was down or having a bad day
You knew exactly what to say
Not always be what I wanted to hear.
your words were honest and sincere
We didn’t always agree but got along
Since the two of us were headstrong
When I got the itch to leave home
We talked about it then moved on
You left that decision up to me
What ever I decided so would it be
Never any questions of right or wrong
Merely good advice I could take along
Never expect life will always be fair
Keep looking up in times of despair.
Achieving most things I set goals to do
Most of the credit goes out to you.
You have been a mentor and a friend
Someone who I could always depend
It’s only befitting that you should know
You have always been my hero
