Let My Soul Go Quietly
At my gathering of family and friends
I’m either near or at journey’s end.
Life will slip away ever so lightly
my soul follows just as quietly
Make no plans to alter my fate
Allow me to keep destiny’s date
Let me slumber off in this final sleep
My road’s been long, oftentimes steep
I’ve lived a good life, I did my best
but a time comes every soul should rest
I pray at my demise there'll be no sadness
just precious hearts, filled with gladness
Don’t speak of me as who I’m not
But one who gave as good as he got
No eloquent speeches or a eulogy
not the way for you to remember me.
Commit my body to the ground
Or spread my ashes all around
Those who believe; do have faith
My soul then rests in a better place
