January 20th 2009
Wake up my children wake up every where
You know what day it is, or don’t you care
Especially you Black children, no time to sleep
we have a very important date to keep
Didn’t think it would come, til another time,
felt it would happen in yours, not in mine
It’s January 20th 2009
It’s been a long wait coming, but right on time.
None of you were around in 1963,
Now have a chance to be part of history
Millions will be coming from everywhere,
being eye witnesses to what happens here.
Hardly slept last night, in my anticipation
kept marking time, till this inauguration.
Barack H Obama, 44th President
E pluribus Unum, of African descent.
To know he got here, brought me to tears
For those who paid the price, over the years
Change HAS finally come, to the USA
Arise children everywhere, today is the day!
Let there be rejoicing, this is your time!
