O' Africa
Why is it you are not weeping?
Your children everyday are dying
Whether from war or starvation
No one has heard you crying.
O' Africa
Can your grief be so deep?
Crying won’t ease your pain
Have you grown that numb to?
All the death and suffering
O' Africa,
Invaders can no longer be blamed
You are now called into account
To cease wars of self destruction
As death tolls continue to mount
O' Africa
With the world is watching you
Why are you not crying,
When so many of your children?
Who everyday are dying
O' Africa
Is there not one wise among you?
Who has wisdom to seek a way?
To end the children suffering
And stop the insanity today
O' America
Why only Black mothers grieve?
Their children all of the time
From violence on your streets
Considered Black on Black crime
O' America
Can you be that indifferent?
You don’t even feel her pain
Have you grown that accustomed?
To this tragic recurring theme
O' America,
As death totals continue rise
What rationalization will you use?
To let the war of a self-hatred?
Continue long as you choose
O' America
While our eyes are on Africa
She returns our every stare
With all our young men dying
There are similarities we share
O' America
Africa asks is there not among you
One who's willing to make a stand
Not with rhetoric and lip service
To bring the madness to an end.
