Today
Today I will fly on high
on an eagle’s wing in the endless sky
Today I will dance among raindrops
and taste the sweetness of the wind
Today I will burrow beneath the petals of a rose
and inhale the perfume that lies within.
Today I shall count snowflakes in a winter storm
and gather sweet nectar with honey bees
Today I will ride on the sun's golden rays
and nap atop the branches of the giant sequoia
Today I shall walk the ocean depths
and join in the chorus of the whale’s mournful song
Today I will become one with the breath of my love
and journey to the depths of her being
Today I will seek out our maker and ask the question, why?
and plead for sanity in a world gone mad.
All of this I will do this day as tomorrow may be too late
Life is there for only an instant
too short to be left in the hands of fate.
