Blah Blah Blah
Are you a poet?
I pose the simple question for you to ponder
for your sake as well as others
I can admit I’m not so you need not wonder
as I have seen the work of the great poem writers
expression is critical to soothe one’s soul
so all should be free to try
but you must ask yourself “what is my goal”
before just letting fly
many say they write only for themselves
yet they post their poems none the same
many write epic tomes to fill a dozen shelves
and give it a catchy poetic name
some questions one should pose
whether it be their first or fiftieth write
is my self-proclaimed masterpiece verse or prose?
what audience might it delight?
does my poem have meaning?
or is it to cryptic to unravel?
does the spelling need cleaning?
or might it get the judges poetic gavel?
does it flow in a reasonable manner?
is my tempo or rhythm problematic?
would my phrasing be considered banner?
is my work smooth or downright erratic
the true poet is a student of the art
always seeking the next hurrah
examine your work and write smart
try not to be guilty of Blah Blah Blah
