I’m In Charge Here, Aren’t I?
What is it she doesn’t understand?
Why does she question my every command?
The universal law of man gives me the right
To make decisions without fear of a fight?
I’m bigger, I’m stronger, and I rule the roost
I’m the one who decides who gets seduced
Yet time after time she gives me that look
And I end up looking like an insipid schnook
No threats. No violence. Just casual glances
That indicates the rejection of any romantic advances
But what do I care; I can take it or leave it?
She can’t intimidate me I can take a hit
So I stand my ground and thumb my nose
My true feelings are the last thing I will disclose
So now that I’ve got her just where I want her
I play my trump card in the manly terms I prefer
She responds with a smile, sheer putty in my hands
She glides gently toward me, completely silent, no demands
Whispers softly in my ear “I don’t want to appear a grouch”
“But I think that tonight you might be more comfortable on the couch”.
