Fresh News from Buda Texas
The excitement is building in Buda
as all prepare for the
April 24th and 25th Lions Club County
Fair and Cook-off, which will include
both barbeque and chili this year.
(Talk about an explosive combination.)
The Buda Volunteer Fire Department
will be placed on alert equipped with an
ample supply of both Maalox and Beano.
The event will begin this year
with the Pet Parade followed by
the nationally renowned Wiener Dog Races.
Motorcycle club members from as far off
as Muskogee, Oklahoma are planning on
attending and rooting for their favorite dog.
Last year an unfortunate accident delayed the
race when several of the dogs mauled one of the
cyclist’s teddy bear that he had mounted on
the front fender of his bike.
The Chamber of Commerce describes Buda as
A “Buda-full” place to visit and to live. “Buda-full”?
(Don’t you wish you had come up with that?)
Moving along rapidly we should make note of
the fact that all of the local motels and inns will
have WIFI installed this year so that guests will have
access to their Facebook accounts and notes
left on their walls. Last year there were numerous
complaints as guests were stressed out due
to not being able to send hearts and miscellaneous
other graphical representations to people that
they don’t even know and are better off not knowing.
The mysterious man who resembles Mark Twain
was seen at the Salt Lick Restaurant west of town
on Saturday night last. He was aimlessly wandering
from table to table carrying a take-out bag which
some customers were filling with left over ribs
as well as an occasional handful of change.
The man approached the owners in an attempt to
negotiate a presentation of what he referred to
as his “stage act” for a free meal but to no avail.
He disappeared into the night, take-out bag in tow
humming Way Down Upon the Swanee River..
