The Dance of the Poets
O what a grand and glorious sight
To see stories come to life before one’s eyes
Through words woven ever so clever and tight
Poetry comes to life via laughter and sighs
Rhymes sing musical and lyrical refrains
As poets write of love and foolish things
Of spring flowers, of speeding trains
Of times past and ancient kings.
Wild tales of erotic encounters are told
And sorrow is expressed in sad forms
Poets reach deep within for all to behold
And fantasy is born that disarms
Tis a magical scene when poets hold court
They gather and look far into the soul
Pens fly across the paper as if in some crazy sport
And lines form the poem as a whole
One wonders aloud at this chaotic scene
While in the distance we hear castanets
And adding the beat of a magic tambourine
We rise and join in the dance of the poets.
