Tis a Time to Give Thanks
As the season turns from winter, then to spring and then to fall
Our minds turn to visions of times past, some difficult to recall.
Leaves bathed in vivid colors swirl around us in a festive like dance.
Covering the ground with a blanket of ornamental brilliance
Cool breezes announce the festivities and the smell of the earth fills the air
The scene is slowly being set; the time to give thanks is drawing near.
We look inward and reflect and try to think only of our many blessings.
We struggle to set aside worldly issues that bring rise to misgivings.
We think of loved ones, of turkey and dressing and steaming yellow yams.
We think of our brothers and sisters fighting wars in far distant lands.
We pray for peace and for forgiveness. We pray to be forever free of fear
The curtain is rising; the time to give thanks is drawing near.
In these times of abundance we must think long and think hard.
For there are those that have little and there are those deeply scarred.
Remember, it is only by our hand that the less fortunate can be served.
It is only through our charity that lives may be preserved.
So rejoice in the season and reach out to all that are in need.
Tis a time to give thanks, God will remember your good deed.
