Love Thy Neighbor

I have a serious issue that requires some deep examination.

It relates to a Commandment of God that needs no clearer translation.

“Love They Neighbor” is the rule that I continue to question.

So I’ll get right to the point, here’s my personal confession.

The thing about neighbors, both far and easily accessible

Is that some, in fact many, are just not very lovable.

Some are rude. Some are thoughtless. Some are just downright mean.

Some are arrogant. Some are selfish. Some fall somewhere in between.

So there in a nutshell is the quandary I face.

Not everyone is lovable and deserving of even the slightest embrace.

So the solution to my problem is not one easy to reach.

To not follow God’s teachings could be a serious breach.

So I’ll try harder to look beyond my neighbor’s serious flaws.

I’ll be helpful I’ll be supportive. I’ll do my best for the cause.

If I succeed I will feel I have done what I should.

If I fail I hope God remembers I did the best that I could.

You definitely had a lot of questions yourself but in the end (as the excellent teacher you are) you allowed the students to deliberate but come to their own conclusion.
