Hunger
What kind of world is this that’s lets some children hunger?
While others seek treatment for over eating disorders
Are we helpless and witless has the whole world gone mad?
Is this world so large that food for the hungry can’t be had?
Empty excuses are useless in this battle to save lives.
So dispense with empty gestures that only further deprive.
Children can’t eat promises that fact is well known.
They die in the night before even half grown.
We fund wars for purposes that most can’t understand.
While hunger prevails as death’s deadliest hand.
Is oil to make fuel to feed our gas guzzling beasts.
More important than thousands of children who die in the streets?
Who can answer the critical questions posed here?
Who can feed a hungry child so that a life can be spared?
If it’s not you and I then who else will it be?
As God’s hands on this earth we must answer their plea.
So blessed are we in this great and rich country.
Not one child in this world should ever go hungry.
So take stock in your wealth be it large or be it small.
Prepare to sacrifice something and to answer the call.
With our Ipods and gadgets we enjoy life’s meaningless pleasures.
While others seek food for a child, a single life to be treasured.
Is our presence here on earth a game meant for frolic and fun?
I think not, look inward there is work to be done.
