were you waiting for me ?

    ***

dad, can you see me ?
dad, can you hear me ?
    it was so loud
    when everything crashed down
and i got that phone call
i travelled for six hours that day
to watch you smile at me one last time
    before you passed away
you were so sick for so long
and it was time to go
but i still need to know
were you waiting for me ?

Love this poem it is real and from the heart at least you got a chance to meet your dad and say goodbye I never met mine. But stay strong that is what he would have wanted you to do. Love Da KinG

Now this hit all the love and hurt within me...saying goodbye is never easy...but being able to be there one last time is a gift that is PRICELESS...I missed my chance so I really related to this....a very personal and heartfelt write....Cher

    thank you.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
