insomnia
****
my lover, insomnia, has returned
she tipped my tables and bridges burned
she eats the stars that seals the night
interrogates with lurid light
with shallow breath i beseech she
to have sound mercy upon me
she crushes me and dis-endows
the pain i can't describe just now
pages and reams of words unsaid
turn to life from whence was dead
and people, places, assorted faces
set my mind off to the races
sleep eludes me riled and rude
and saturates with saddest mood
now myths and monsters blessed with birth
do haunt my pillows, hell is earth
