The FairyTale Ending
Pondering the puzzle of missing pieces ...
Forcing them to fit - hammering the creases.
My actions taken never seem to agree,
It's always been a constant battle for me.
I take it in stride as I journey through life ...
There's nothing I can do to make it all right.
The pain it persists - It is taking it's toll,
Must maintain composure and not lose control.
- - -
So, I hide in my castle - away from it all ...
Away from my life and ignoring it's call.
I can't let it take me - so I hide in the mist,
Or I'll forever resign and cease to exist.
There once was a love that I thought to be true ...
I was just beyond the door waiting for you.
There was no sign of fear - no sign of regret,
Only a promise to be the greatest love yet.
- - -
As time moves on and reality sets in ...
The confusion overwhelms and the doubts begin.
Questioning if we're making a stupid mistake,
Maybe we should end this before it's too late?
Insecurity - The killer of all that is love ...
Rises from the depths as it strikes from above.
A dragon that lurks in the hearts of us all,
Ready to attack - upon beckoning call.
- - -
Retreating to the darkness - securing the locks ...
Ensuring the moat monsters are circling the dock.
Protecting from above - the dragon spews fire,
Flames to strike down any unwanted desire.
Climbing back to her tower - she cowers in fear ...
Forsaking the Knight that she once held dear.
Forcing him to retreat to his castle in shame,
To wallow in the sadness of his heart's remains.
- - -
To think that I thought this was a love so real ...
Should've known Maleficent doesn't know how to feel.
Where true love is fantasy and rarely found in real life.
I should've stopped in my tracks - took time to think twice.
Love is an angry beast that attacks and devours ...
Scaring Knights back to castles and Queens to their towers.
Not an ending befitting of a Knight and his Queen,
But ... What does one expect from a fairy tale dream?
