Cries Of The Innocent
I still get the goose bumps ... When I think about it, I can still hear their futile screams. The moon was big and full ~ Bats screeching in their flight, Howling wind thru barren trees. Wolves barking at the moon ... Rabid fangs drip with blood, A headless body by it's side. Cries of the innocent ~ Can be heard for miles, Carried by the wind of the night. Night creatures came in hoards ... In search of human kind, Following the call of the wild. Instinctual cravings ~ Their only driving force, Not safe - for Man, Woman or Child. What comes 'round - goes around ... Nature fought back that night, No longer submitting to Man's hold. It wasn't war or plague ~ That brought man to his knees, It was Nature's wrath - So the story goes ... Cries of the innocent ... The story is still told, Passed on thru generations of Kin. A reminder to those ~ To respect and to know, Nature's a force to be reckoned with! The only safe haven ... Was a land called O.P., An un-penetratable fortress. Where I now must reside ~ For the rest of my life, To write poems of other's misfortunes. ~ ~ ~ I still get the goose bumps ... When I think about it, I can still hear their futile screams. - So, here we are...in the fortress, OP, on the moors. I've often wondered, as my eyes inventoried the hand-set stones in the exspansive floor, why there were cries of the fallen, seeping in under my study door...they're out there waiting... for hope, for sustenance, for KNIGHT4696 to vanquish the poem assassins of the 'outer fringes'...We are indebted to your work at OP and putting your back into it to make it a better place...yet, all are not within the sanctum, as their pleas are carried on howling wind... Applause building!!

- Inside a poets mind are many voices some scary, other are delightful. In our minds we seek balance and harmony so when the time comes to write we write both beauty and ugliness; love and hate, power and weakness for we write of our excesses to bring harmony to our thoughts, what flows from our pens the ink is our life's blood, pure thought. Love, peace and freedom, Olan
