    I found this old song lyric I wrote back in the 80's. I never posted it .. Still not sure that some of these older writes are worthy .. but, this one seems to be relevant to today's music style. I hope you enjoy ...

    Somewhere Within ...

    Somewhere within ~
    My soul resides.
    Within the darkness - Within the light.
    Can't help but wonder ~
    Just what I will find?
    Within the chasms - Within my mind.

    My heart beats slow.
    Within the fire - Within it's glow!
    My ashen heart beats ~
    To another drum.
    Erratic pounding - Within the rhythm!

    The pieces that fit - To complete my life!

    I am a heavy metal guy,but love all types of music.those lyrics touch every person walking.only some such as yourself can convey it so well...enjoyed reading it.

    Somewhere within is the true menaing of it all, for this is the only meaning worth knowing... Self-reflection and relaization all rolled up in an admazing trip! Old, new, who cares! This poem is timeless and reminds me of the abyss, very similar place... I suppose we all have a place like this hidden deep within, most just never know it is there, others are to afriad to travel so deep into the darkness for the feat they will get lost and not find thier way back out. But truthfully how can one know thyself if they don't know the good and the bad, the light and the darkness? for there is no light without the darkness to be... Sometimes in the very darkness of the sahdows is where we can find the brightest of lights. A great man once said " the only thing I know for certain is that I know nothing, the only thing worth knowing is thyself, and it is a life long goal..." I think there is a lot of wisdom both in this statement as well as your poem, for the true meaning is found somewhere within... Purity of the soul, journey well!!! Angel aka Poem Buster

    Thank you very much again Angel for such an indepth commentary. I've always believed that we all have a light/dark side - sort of a ying and yang - it keeps us on an even keel and you're correct - some never dare to venture so deep outta fear - but to know oneself - one Must venture in order to really know who we are.     The image that comes to mind is Metallica's "ONE" video... alive but gone, that's all I see when I read your lyrics.. another great piece!

    Thanks Charlie! :) I never thought of the Metallica connection. But now that ya mention it .. it is similar. I believe "One" came out in the 90's though. Anyway, thanks for the great comments as usual my friend! :) Much Appreciated! Ken

    Ken- I can hear ..like..every big hair band ballad..all rooled into one. See the 80's weren't so bad, I think I felt my mullet trying to grow back in!
